About swati kalsi
Swati Kalsi is a textile and clothing designer, artist, and creative consultant with over two decades of experience working with handcrafted textiles. As a founder and creative director, she has played a pivotal role in bringing contemporary relevance to traditional textile practices, helping create sustainable livelihoods for artisans. Her practice is deeply rooted in the revival and reinterpretation of traditional crafts, approached with both cultural sensitivity and contemporary design insight.
Swati Kalsi has demonstrated a rare ability to engage with craft heritage not as static tradition, but as a living practice—one that can be renewed, reimagined, and made relevant to today’s world. Her work reflects a thoughtful balance of research, material experimentation, and narrative, often centered around preserving and honoring the skills, stories, and techniques of craft communities in India.
ONE OF A KIND
Our one-of-a-kind creations emerge from intense workshops with artisans, where tradition entwines with innovation. Each piece reimagines time-honoured crafts with sensitivity, elevating skills and expanding the boundaries of craftsmanship.
Meant to endure, these works showcase meticulous handcraftsmanship, are lightweight and impeccably finished inside and out. Their classic, generous forms serve as canvases for designs that are both intriguing and timeless, inviting engagement and contemplation.
Every piece is made to be lived with—worn on the body, to inhabit a space, or to adorn the wall—reminding us that true value of any creation transcends form, defined instead by the meaning and experience it carries.
Ready to wear
Aimed at offering fine handcraftsmanship in functional and ready to wear silhouettes to meet our customers occasional and day to day needs.
colab
We view collaborations/ commissions/projects as a way to co-create meaningful value that isolated efforts cannot achieve. By understanding our partners’ vision and goals, we guide creative initiatives thoughtfully, ensuring projects reach their fullest potential together.
Research
Creative research allows us to explore in depth and present insights in engaging, accessible forms that resonate with broader audiences.
Building on her experience, Swati recently undertook research aimed at developing a sustainable, symbiotic model that integrates global design and technological exposure for artisans. This model, envisioned as a scalable digital tool, was selected and supported by the State of Fashion Biennale – Ties That Bind (2024, Netherlands).
The research was presented in the form of soundscapes. For more details research.swatikalsi.com
